Tropical Farm and Restaurant
Kapuhala farm is set in and around the retreat, providing freshest possible produce to our guests. Our experienced gardeners make sure that the plants are cultivated without the use of pesticides and only with natural fertilisers.
As you walk along our landscaped paths, you will find yourself surrounded by the fragrant scents of jasmine, lemongrass and frangipani trees
In addition to the outdoor farm, we have also installed a microgreens basement greenhouse to supply us with the highest quality, fresh and nutritious sprouts.
To grow vegetables that are less resistant to the tropical climate we have also built an aquaponics greenhouse. This allows us to sustainably grow vegetables using significantly less water, natural fertilisation and no need for soil. Read more on aquaponics here.
We made a concerted effort to preserve as many native trees and plants as possible and build around them. Old fruit-bearing trees such as jackfruit, coconut, cashews and banana plants continue to grow and delight our guests.
To meet the demands of our restaurant we have also planted citrus trees, papayas, mulberries, squashes and a whole lot more!
To remain as self-sufficient and sustainable as possible we are also building a nursery to cultivate our own plants as well as further insuring the origins of the food we serve.
KAPUHALA RESTAURANT - THE HALAPUA
Eating at the Halapua is an experience - one that we hope will not only tantalise your taste buds and showcase the incredible range of flavour plant-based cuisine has to offer, but also reveal the impact that the quality of ingredients has on the final dish on your plate.
We have developed an exclusive menu that is both sophisticated and innovative - qualities that often are missing in plant-based cuisine, making the Halapua restaurant a culinary marvel.
ROOFTOP LOUNGE AND BAR
The concept of a warrior is based on the idea of balance. Kapuhala Warriors train rigorously and are conscious of their diet, yet recognise the importance of celebrating their loved ones, their blessings in life as well as their achievements.
Feel the warm island breeze whilst enjoying your evenings on our rooftop lounge with like-minded
people. Share your experiences and celebrate your time together by sampling our signature cocktails crafted by talented mixologists at the Halapua bar. Let us take you on a journey of local flavours by masterfully mixing the finest spirits with fresh fruit and herbs grown on our farm.
WE DO NOT USE HIGHLY PROCESSED FOODS
It is of the utmost importance to us to exceed your expectations, however, as we strive to do so we stay true to our values. We will cater to your dietary needs within the confines of our food philosophy.
Food waste is a global problem. We try to do our best to not contribute to it.
OUR FOOD PHILOSOPHY
Local and Ethical
We prioritise locally available produce in order to minimise greenhouse gas emissions that result from international transportation of goods.
We focus on freshness and supporting the local communities.
Each external source of produce is carefully researched and only the ethically responsible suppliers are chosen.
We aim to source only the highest available quality ingredients.
Freshest possible whole foods, in their most natural state, are the foundation for all the food at Kapuhala.
We do not serve or use any extremely processed products and ingredients.
Growing a lot of our own produce is by far the most sustainable solution and we are committed to it!
Cooking with seasonal ingredients is also an important part of sustainability as it reduced the need for importing produce that is not in season.
We ask each guest to order their meals in advance in order to avoid stocking too much food at once that may or may not be used. Your meals are made to order.
Composting is another way we minimise waste, which we later use as a natural fertiliser.
